The majority of people no longer own VCRs, but if you are one of them, obtaining a head cleaner is essential to keeping the device working (if you ever intend to view movies on it) and preventing it from gnawing up your tapes. I have some VHS cassettes that I enjoy occasionally watching, including the original Star Wars films and The Godfather Saga (the films in chronological order), that are exceedingly difficult, if not impossible, to replace on DVD. In order to keep the gadget in functioning order, this works wonderfully.

The tape path and VCR head are cleaned. This is a dry system, and while they don't always function as well as the wet systems, they still work well, are considerably simpler to operate, have a lower risk of damage, and allow for immediate use of the VCR without the drying time that many wet systems demand. This cleaning won't be much help if the VCR is simply worn out. Cleaning it might improve the picture quality or sellotape travel a bit, but it won't fix the problems, so even if the VCR might function a little better for a while, it will still need to be properly fixed or replaced. Although the cleaner is going along the head and tape path and continuing to do its job, you might notice that the tape counter does not change when the cleaning tape is being used. This is because the VCR cannot see genuine VCR tape on the heads. You should be good to go if you just follow the instructions.
